CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AWARENESS WEEK 2004 (CSAAW'04)

The 5th annual CSAAW'04 with the theme "TEENS TAKE CHARGE" organised by Young Achievers' Club (YAC) and Deaf Teens Club (DTC) was held at Sunway Pyramid on 28 May to 1 June. The objective is to focus on the Malaysian teenagers by giving them an opportunity to make their thoughts and opinions heard through a nation-wide poll, which attempts to create a channel of communication for the teens and to gather information on how they feel about certain issues or myths on child sexual abuse. It's our first time DTC and YAC work together. The main activities such as performances by "ALL STARS CHEERLEADING TEAM" and hi-hop band "FLOWTRON", fustal competitions, treasunt hunt, exhibition , awareness talks, games galore, quiz competition and charity work were held. We as teenagers has our part to play in preventing child sexual abuse. Not only that, we also to empower teens with relevant information for them to pass on their peers and to garner interest in the fight against child sexual abuse. The survey form on child sexual abuse was given to teens to answer and share their opinion. Finally, YAC & DTC completed CSAAW'04 successfully. We learnt a lot about child sexual abuse issues and hope this has created greater awareness to the public.
